About Us

In October 1975, the Doughnut Cupboard first opened its doors as one of the original businesses in the Afshari Shopping Center located in the heart of Florissant. In 1983, the business was purchased by John Dietrich, who along with his wife Robyn still operate the business  50 years later. When they purchased the business, it was strictly a coffee and doughnut shop. Over the years, the menu has expanded to include a full breakfast line, a diner type lunch menu, along with various drink selections, bagels, and bakery goods. In addition, The Doughnut Cupboard also makes deliveries to churches, schools, government facilities, and convenience stores located in North County and St. Charles County.

What sets The Doughnut Cupboard apart from most of the competitors is the fact that our doughnuts are made by skilled bakers. Our bakers have a combined 65 years experience making doughnuts, hand-rolling and hand-cutting each doughnut. Our doughnuts are also iced individually by hand using our unique icing recipes. Since we make all our own icings and glaze in-store, our icings are always made fresh with no preservatives.

Since John, Robyn, and Cathy, our manager, are at the business almost every day we are able to ensure a quality product and excellent customer service that is second to none.  We take pride in our customer service that it seems today is lacking in most businesses. Chances are if you have been in a few times, we probably know you by name and know what you normally like to order. We like to think of ourselves as the old TV show “Cheers”, where everyone knows your name, after you have become one of our  “regulars” .
